    Additional Training for CERT

Post by Cabrillo-1 on Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:04 pm

What additional training should organized CERT groups get that would benefit their communities?
Keep in mind that CERT does not want people doing things they are not trained to do because the first rule of CERT is be safe and don't exceed your training.

The basic CERT class teaches light search and rescue, fire supression with a fire extinguisher, medical triage, and hands-only CPR.
Level 2 includes basic First Aid/CPR/AED.
Level 3 is higher medical including Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician.

What other skills would benefit a team to take a class or have a class set up to teach them?

Hey Patrick, I contacted the American Red Cross about taking the Course for the "Facilitator."  I don't think they understand, unless of course i am the one who doesn't.  They told me that i need to contact my local ARC chapter, once done take a disaster course.  Then volunteer with them.  I provided a link of an older class dated 2014 in a reply so they may understand me better.  I also contacted someone by the name of Kristin who taught that class in 2014 in Los Angeles.  Being how late it was i don't presume, I'll hear from her until tomorrow or next week.  Just wanted to keep you updated.
